Tips to dress appropriately for work-perfect office attire

· Analyze the office Culture:

  1. Well! You have to play a quick slide-show in your mind of what type of people you have in your office. The atmosphere, the culture and the comfort level you have in your office area
  2. Choose the kind of attire according to the culture of your office. Once you decide the type of formal attire you are going to carry it will be easy to decide what should you do next.
  3.  “Everyone draws their lines differently,” For example, you may be able to wear shorts, but not cut-offs. If your company has a dress code, follow it."

· Office Makeup:

  1. Start with Cleansing: Before applying cosmetics in the morning, wash your face so that you’ll have the capacity to begin with a crisp canvas. Use a cleanser or simply splash some lukewarm water all over your face to wash away any dead skin on your skin. Pat it dry with a towel.
  2. Apply BB Cream: Once you apply BB cream, you rescue yourself from all the jazz of applying moisturizer, sunscreen, foundation, and the hassle of brushes and sponges. BB cream instantly covers the spots on your face, and gives you an even and radiant skin.
  3. Conceal If Required: A quick swipe of concealer (creamy ones) over the pesky zit or marks is enough to hide them. Apply it with your fingers. Reason – the heat of your fingers helps blend the concealer to give a real and natural finish.
  4. Time to Give Your Cheeks a Rosy Flush: Now that you’re done with your base, apply a neutral-colored blush on your cheekbones. It will make you look brighter and even more awake!
  5. Line Your Eyes Softly: Give some definition to your look by applying a kohl or eye pencil to your lower lid. For the upper eyelid, use liquid eyeliner or a gel pencil and add some magic to your eyes. Don’t forget to swipe some along your brows to brighten the effect.
  6. Enhance Your Lips: Make your lips appear fuller by applying a lip liner and moisturize the lips using a lip gloss rather than going with a bright lip color. However, if your makeup feels incomplete without a lip color, add some color to your lips. Outline the lips with lip liner and evenly fill in with lipstick using a brush.

·

 Formal Accessories:

  1. Scarves: It is fine to wear tasteful scarves in the office; just make sure they are accessory scarves and not winter wear. Tie your scarf in an infinity knot or go with a simple knot -- resist the urge to be trendy and tuck it into your belt. Choose colors that complement your overall look and not that compete with it. If you wear a chunky scarf, size down your jewelry (and skip wearing a necklace).
  2. Jewelry: Avoid wearing large or costume jewelry. Earrings should be conservative and small. Necklaces should not dangle between cleavage, and bracelets should not make noise. Do not wear ankle bracelets, but do wear a conservative watch.
  3.  Purses: Purse colors should coordinate with your shoe color. A good purse should be small, but easy to open in case you need to find an item inside.
  4.  Briefcases and Portfolios: Portfolios and pad folios are preferred over briefcases and should be padded in a neutral color. If you take a briefcase, it should be as small as is practical for your needs and made of leather in a neutral color. If you do not need a briefcase don’t bring one just for show; never use a shopping bag, book bag, or backpack in place of a briefcase.

· Perfect Shoes:

  1. Though pointy-toed office shoes are infinitely on the more attractive side, you might want to avoid them or go for a wider pointy toe in order to decrease the chances of developing painful bunions and neuroses. You do not want to be cutting off the space of your toes, nor place added pressure on them.
  2. A closed-back office shoe is probably your best bet, since there is too much grip happening otherwise, with foot tension the least of your worries. Straps that keep the shoe attached are best under other circumstances, but it might also cause pain if the straps are not made right. You do not want your toes doing all the work, and you do not want to be cutting off circulation either.
  3. Strong hips and a proper heel are necessary to keep you from wobbling on your heels like a child in her mother’s closet. Do yourself a favor and don’t go cheap here.
  4. Look for something of higher quality, even if it might cost a trifle more. Genuine leather is your friend. Prefer it to any of the cheaper office shoes. If you have a problem with wearing leather, textile alternatives also exist, with tweed or drab in natural shades a good option.
  5. Be aware of the color combinations with your apparel as well. Match the colors if you can, or go for something complementary if you cannot. Ivory office shoes with pastel dresses look pretty awesome, while a black dress with red soled black office shoes will certainly be catching attention everywhere.

· Finally! The Dress:

  1. As i have already mentioned the attire should be compatible with your office culture.
  2. You can go for smart formals, casual cum formals or casuals that look smart (if allowed).  Don't choose vibrant colors like parrot green or glowing orange. The colors should be smart enough to catch the eye but also should be pleasant looking.
  3. Don't go for extreme contrast combination. Choose a color scheme that represents your personality and adds maturity to your look. Standard formal colors are always welcome to use but you can experiment with combinations of sweaters with formal shirts.
  4. Ladies – A tailored suit that fits and flatters your body type can make all the difference. Research the best fits/style for your body type. For example, I am slender / petite so I knew a cropped pant suit would be a great fit (literally) to give the illusion that I’m taller. Also note – plaid and pinstripes are AWESOME not LAME. The benefit of spending money and time tailoring a suit (if you need to) knows that you’ll have it forever. You can re-wear the blazer styled with a dress and the pants, too. Just pair it with a cute blouse over and over again.
